Salford Red Devils have completed the signing of Harrison Hansen from Wigan Warriors on a four year deal.

Harrison joins the hugely ambitious Red Devils after winning the double with the Warriors last season and arrives at the AJ Bell Stadium with his local hero status already attached, having grown up in the city playing his amateur rugby with Folly Lane ARLFC.

His father was legendary Salford forward Shane Hansen who played for the Club in eighties and the youngster was picked up by Wigan Academy where he impressed and eventually signed a deal in 2003.

Having represented New Zealand and then Samoa at the recent World Cup, he arrives with a big reputation as an exciting, hard-hitting back-rower.

Harrison told thereddevils.net: “Marwan has been awesome and is the reason I am here signing for Salford today. I grew up and played for Folly and people always asked me if I would like to come back and play here. I always said it was something I wanted to do but the time had to be right and I feel now as though it is.

“I have signed a four-year deal and am really excited to be here right at the beginning of this special time for the Red Devils. There is a huge amount of excitement around what is happening here and I know the fans will come out and back us when we get out there in February. ”

“For me it is a great new challenge. I have achieved everything I could at Wigan and had a great time there. I’m not just coming to Salford for an easy ride. I have a set of standards and I constantly set myself the task of living up to them. There is a great bunch of players here, I know many of them already. The facilities now are second to none. This is the place to be.”
