Salford Rugby League announces a Red Devilution
Salford Red Devils Rugby League Club has today announced the signing of 12 new players for the 2014 season. In the biggest single statement of intent the Red Devils are announcing additions to the squad with over one thousand Super League games, over 700 NRL games and almost 120 international caps.
Head Coach, Brian Noble is extremely happy with the recruitment and the balance of his squad.
“We have recruited some great experience with our international players, we have also added some exceptional young talent from home and abroad and we are adding these to some of our existing players who have performed admirably this season. I am really excited about the prospects for this squad and I am looking forward to a strong off season in preparation for 2014. It is going to be one hell of a ride”
The club has gone back to the future by adopting Salford Red Devils as a new identity for one of the country’s oldest and proudest Rugby League Clubs. The Red Devil brand was originally coined in the 1930’s and is a popular choice with fans. Chairman, Dr Marwan Koukash, believes that the new brand will fully capture and support his vision for Salford to be a leading Super League Club in the 2014 campaign.
The club which, Dr Koukash rescued in February of this year has undergone a remarkable change through this season and today’s announcements will be a further indication of the Chairman’s ambition to take the Red Devils to the top.
“I always said my first year as owner of the Club would be about ensuring the survival of the former Salford City Reds, providing some stability on and off the field to ensure that I would have the platform to build my strategy for success for the new Club going forward. This is now the time for the Red Devils to rise up to become one of the most successful Clubs in Super League” said Dr Koukash
“We have assembled a squad in which the city and the region can take great pride. Our coaching team is second to none and we have a magnificent home stadium which we will make welcoming to fans and sponsors but will be as hot as hell for visiting teams.”
“I am calling upon the people of Salford and the Greater Manchester area to get behind the Red Devils and make them a part of their sporting life. I cannot create this dynasty on my own – so join in by booking a season ticket, entertain clients and staff at our games or become a sponsor and be a part of the journey”
In a unique example of the Chairman’s link to Horse Racing, the Red Devils will play their home games in a traditional red whilst the away kit will feature his racing colours of grey with a gold star. To further that link Dr Koukash has offered a fantastic opportunity for Red Devils fans:
“Everyone who buys a 2014 season ticket before the end of September will be entered into a free draw, the winner will have the opportunity to name one of my horses and I will give them the prize money from its first race. I will also invite the winner plus a guest to attend the meeting where the horse first runs”
The club has a brand new website which launches today and a whole new look and feel based around the Red Devilution theme.
